Do you offer other holistic healing services?
Rachel does, though to find out about that you'd need to visit her separate website with services unrelated to psychotherapy, as she cannot provide any those services and psychotherapy. That website is here:
Do you accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance. If your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits we can provide you with what's called a 'superbill' which you can submit to your insurance company for partial to full reimbursement. This is only an option for psychotherapy services for clients based in Arizona (Or California with Rachel).
Why don't you accept insurance?
There are many reasons we've opted not to accept insurance:
1) More privacy: Insurance companies require detailed paperwork as a condition of payment. This can compromise your confidentiality as paperwork containing your private information can be passed through various representatives before reaching its final destination.
2) More flexibility: Insurance companies can influence treatment decisions such as the duration, the frequency of your treatment, or even the type of therapy provided (which generally doesn't include somatic touch). They also limit the types of therapists you can work with to those who are paneled with their plans (AKA "in-network"). At Somatic Love and Healing, we value your autonomy and consent so we can collaboratively have complete freedom over your care.
3) No diagnosis needed: Insurance companies require "medical necessity" as a condition of payment. This means you must receive a diagnosis from the DSM V in order to qualify for covered care. In our experience, most clients cannot be simply categorized into a predetermined set of criteria, especially if there is early or developmental trauma. Furthermore, diagnoses become part of your medical record and follow you for your life; they can affect you if you are applying for certain kinds of employment, insurance, or are going through certain kinds of background screening. We can talk about diagnoses if that's helpful for you (if you are seeking out-of-network benefits I will need to assign you a diagnosis) but otherwise we don't need to pathologize you to help you. We want to support you in reaching your goals and in feeling like the most 'you' version of yourself.
4) Overhead costs: Unlike settings where therapists work as employees, private practice therapists are self-employed. This means there are a variety of considerations for us involving the "business side" (including money flow) of our practice. As a therapist in private practice, my fee includes:
Overhead costs
Cost of medical insurance and lack of other benefits such as paid time off, medical leave, etc.
Ongoing training, licensure, consultations & liability insurance
5) A more present therapist: My rate allows me to keep my caseload smaller. Most therapists who accept insurance have to see too many clients a week due to the low rates insurance companies pay psychotherapists. This means you are always getting us at our very best, and we have time and energy to put in the work to help you feel better.
What are your fees for psychotherapy?
For Rachel:
50-minute sessions: $165
80-minute sessions: $245
110- minute sessions: $330
For Emily:
50-minute individual therapy: $80
50-minute couples therapy: $120
What goes into your fees?
Our rates allows us to keep our caseload manageable, and for you to get the very best care. Most therapists who accept insurance work with upwards of 25-35 clients a week due to the low rates insurance companies pay psychotherapists. This means you are always getting us at our very best, and we have time and energy to put in the work to help you feel better.
As a client you are not only paying for the time we meet, but everything that goes in behind the scenes as well. This includes additional trainings, treatment planning, reading, gathering resources, research, and ongoing clinical consultation and supervision to better serve you and your specific needs, as well as the overhead costs of running a small business.
Do you have any sliding scale available?
We offer these as they become available. Currently, Rachel's waitlist and sliding scale caseload is are completely full and she is full-fee only at this time. We have has 2-4 sliding scale spots at any given time for those who are otherwise unable to work with me. These slots are only available for 1:1 services (not couple services) and the availability of them varies. If you are using your insurance for out-of-network coverage we ask that you pay our full fee so those who are not able to use insurance can benefit from my sliding scale. When you schedule a consultation you can indicate if you need a sliding scale spot.
I need help now. What is your availability?
Sessions are made by appointment, after we have an initial consultation. We are not able to support crisis or emergency situations on an ongoing basis.
Notably, we are unable to provide crisis counseling. If this is a counseling emergency, please call 911 or Pima County – Crisis Response Network (520) 622-6000.
Will it get better?
Of course healing is possible - We wouldn't be here if we didn't fully believe in each person's ability to get better.
How long will it take?
The short answer is...it depends. It depends largely on you, your goals, and how long you desire to spend in therapy. Some humans we've worked with work with us for only a few months, others for years, and others off and on. This decision is one we can discuss when we meet and one we'll review on an ongoing basis.
Do you work with interns or other clinicians?
Of course! We are honored you are here, and recognize the importance of having community, and an embodied somatic practice and culture: which means we are intentional about building one where we collaborate and communicate around our needs, hopes, and learning edges together. We are excited to connect with humans who are (or are becoming) therapists and hope to engage with themselves and their colleagues in this way as a means to become better versions of ourselves, both as therapists and as human beings. If you're interested in working in an environment that encourages integration, rest, and collaboration this is for you! We work with associate and independent level licensed master's level clinicians. Students that choose to do their internship with us can expect a caring, reflective, supportive, and somatically informed environment, one that will help them identify and develop their own unique style as a therapist. You will also have supervision and support as you gain your confidence as a therapist.
How do I get started?
Please completely fill out the form below and we'll be in touch with you within 3 working days for a consultation to get connected. Let us know if you'd like to work with Rachel or Emily. We'll talk through any details we need to during our 15-20 minute consultation.
What do I do if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
I require at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Failure to cancel within this time frame means you will be responsible for paying the full fee for that time.
I still have a question...
Please feel free to be in touch via the form at the bottom of this page. We'd love to connect with you and answer any and all questions you have related to working together.
