About Rachel Broome, SEP, LPC,  LMT

I believe deeply in my bones that we all deserve to somatically feel that we belong.

I’m Rachel, a somatic experiencing practitioner, licensed counselor, bodyworker and human.

I show up as a human first and a therapist second. I  believe life should be full of deep belly laughs, endless coffee, lots of dog snuggles and that comfort is a necessity, not a luxury. I also loves whimsy, crafting, weightlifting and the smell of rain in the desert.

I am also a Counseling Supervisor, Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Master Teacher, Doula, and Bodyworker. I am also on the faculty track with Somatic Experiencing International and have been very grateful to be mentored while I get to continue expanding my love of learning on my teaching journey.  And while this sounds like a lot of titles, the title I value most is simply "human."

My clients often describe me as easy-going, approachable, kind, silly, and empathetic. I help people who feel stuck with their body—find new ways of being. Working with me isn’t about labels or quick fixes. It’s about tending to all of you. Slowing down enough to learn the language of your body and nervous system...to begin uncovering the patterns that shape your relationship with your body to begin truly creating space for new ways of being. My role is to be your guide - to co-create our exploration together, deeply listen to our bodies, reflect what we see and feel, and guide you toward change that feels relieving, nourishing and sustainable.

My philosophy

When we meet ourselves with curiosity, love, and care we can authentically embody ourselves.

My approach to therapy is very human. I believe healing happens through connection, with yourself and with another attuned human who can witness you in all your gloriously messy "you-ness.". We'll work together to create a container that feels flexible, comfortable, and safe enough to explore how to find, grow, and nurture your natural resilience. Being able to walk with you on your healing journey is a gift, and I am deeply honored to be able to witness you and your unique human-ness.

My approach helps me hold space for you to feel more connected to yourself, more at home in your body, and more able to experience yourself. Meeting ourselves deeply means we'll go through some of the deepest, darkest places of our humanity together. We'll grieve, witness our deepest fears, cry, hold sacred rage, and experience the parts of ourselves longing to be met.

It also means we'll learn how to take in and experience the sweetest, most loving, and joyful parts of life. We'll learn how to allow ourselves to access the good and then we'll learn how to take it all in; the joy, belly laughs, silliness, play, delight and connection. We'll hold these all of pieces as parts of the greater whole of ourselves. We might also discover places that you find ease, connection, and a larger sense of belonging.

I'm here to honor the wholeness of you, in whatever way you need. If you need a diagnosis, let's talk about what fits. If you don't want a diagnosis and just need some help and support, I've got your back. Whatever you need and want to understand, I'm here to lovingly support you through.

Much of my own journey would have been impossible alone, without the help of loving healers, and I feel grateful to be able to work the way I do. I feel very deeply in my soul we are not meant to experience all life has to offer alone.

We are made for healing, and we are designed to deeply connect with ourselves and with each other in community. We are designed to feel like we belong.

A little history

I began my career...

in non-profit organizations focused on serving the community in their homes for nearly 15 years. During this time, I was also privileged enough to have access to wonderful healers to accompany my own healing. I became an SEP in September of 2018 and obtained my master's degree in the following month. I have experience with inpatient treatment centers, behavioral health systems, foster care agencies, and non-profits, meeting folks both in offices and in homes. She also spent time as an infant mental health clinician supporting babies, parents and caregivers..

I was often sought out in these environments for my unique, flexible, fluid, silly, and loving approach to help individuals and families facilitate their own healing. I have worked with humans across their lifespan in various capacities and now specialize with humans who identify as neurodivergent, and those who are healing from human trafficking, religious trauma, cult abuse,  have high levels of disassociation and of course, developmental trauma. I currently runs a small private practice, while also supporting other clinicians and SE students in deepening their clinical skills.

Identities I hold...

I am a white cis-gendered woman, a married person, and entrepreneur. I reside on the native lands of the Tohono O'odham and Pascua Yaqui people. I am grateful for their ongoing stewardship of these lands and commit to moving beyond acknowledgment by actively supporting tribal sovereignty.

I am a survivor of generational and childhood trauma. I am also neurodivergent, having been late-diagnosed both ADHD and Autistic.

I am a college degree holder and grew up in a middle class home, which also came with status that I did nothing to earn or deserve.

I acknowledge the privileges I carry in my person and the impact they have on my thoughts, views, and business practices. I am committed to unlearning oppressive beliefs rooted in colonization and white supremacy, and working to make reparations and peace in my community. I openly welcome feedback and correction.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

Outside the therapy room, I’m a lover of cozy rituals, connection, crafting and play.

When I’m not with clients, you can usually find me at the gym weightlifting, curled up with a book, beading and crafting something or spending time with my loved ones and my dogs. I believe healing also comes from everyday moments of rest, laughter, ease, and belonging—and I try to bring the spirit of warmth and play into my practice, too.
