Human

 First

I show up as a

Rachel is a human who believes we deserve deep belly laughs, endless coffee, lots of dog snuggles and that comfort is a necessity, not a luxury.

Rachel is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor, and a Reiki Master Teacher. She's an intuitive healer. She began her career in non-profit, community based organizations. As she got to witness each human's incredible journey, she embarked on her own healing, and found wonderful healers to accompany her journey. Rachel became an SEP in September of 2018, and obtained her master's degree in the following month. She has experience with inpatient treatment centers, behavioral health systems,  foster care agencies, and non-profits, meeting folks both in offices and in homes. Rachel was often sought out in these environments for her unique, flexible, and fluid approach to help individuals facilitate their own healing. She has worked with humans of all ages (0-82) in various capacities, and now spends most of her time in private practice, working with wonderful humans in search of their own intuitive and beautiful healing capacities.

Healing doesn't need to be hard. You don't have to heal alone. We can find your path to feeling like your whole, authentic self.

My approach to therapy is to show up as a human first. Together we take some time to get to know each other and our uniqueness. We work together to create a container that feels flexible, comfortable, and safe enough to explore how to find, grow, and nurture your natural resilience. Being able to walk with you on your healing journey is a gift, and I am deeply honored to be able to witness you and your unique human-ness.

Meeting ourselves deeply means we'll go through some of the deepest, darkest places of our humanity together. We'll grieve, witness our deepest fears, cry, hold sacred rage, and experience the parts of ourselves longing to be met. It also means we'll learn how to take in and experience the sweetest, best parts of life. We'll learn how to allow ourselves to access the good and then we'll learn how to take it all in; the joy, belly laughs, silliness, play, delight and connection. We'll hold these all of pieces as parts of the greater whole of ourselves.

I know first-hand the devastating effects of developmental and shock trauma. I know how exhausting and overwhelming it can be to continue to try to put one foot in front of the other, day after day, just to continue to feel overwhelmed and hopeless. And I know, that much of my journey would have been impossible alone, without the help of loving healers. I feel very deeply in my soul we are not meant to live through experiences alone - we are made for healing and we are designed to deeply feel like we belong.

Somatic Psychotherapy is similar to other traditional talk therapies, however, one of the beautiful aspects of somatic work is that we attune to our bodies. We give them space to explore, breathe, talk, and express their deepest needs and find ways to love ourselves wholly and unashamedly. We slowly find ways to meet our deepest physiological needs. We find ways to truly make each hard, complicated, confused part of ourselves feel welcome and at home. Trauma healing can be tender, full of big emotions, and occasionally intense, but it can also be incredibly sweet, and relieving to finally begin to create and settle into the home waiting for you inside yourself.

When we are held empathetically and wholly, we begin to find access to our true and natural healing potential. We make sense. We begin to see ourselves as more than just our survival patterns. We begin to find and meet ourselves. We get to see, understand, and love the very complex pieces of ourselves that make us human. We become the most human versions of ourself.

You make sense.
You deserve to be witnessed in all of your humanness.
