Human First

I show up as a

I know how impossible healing can feel, and I know relief is possible - you don’t have to heal alone.

Rachel is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Licensed Professional Counselor and Counselor Supervisor, and a Reiki Master Teacher. She initially began her journey providing therapeutic services in non-profit, community based organizations. She spent nearly 8 years providing in-home services to families and children who found themselves involved with various systems. Rachel also began her own healing journey shortly thereafter, with various body workers, therapists, and counselors and enrolled in the Somatic Experiencing® professional training. She became an SEP in 2018, and obtained her master's degree in the following month. Rachel spent time as an intern at Sierra Tucson, and then transitioned to providing therapy, focused on building secure, healthy attachments between babies, infants, and children and their caregivers.  She also spent time providing therapy to children, teenagers, and adults in various capacities, and most recently spent time serving children and families impacted by the foster care system. Rachel also provided somatic experiencing in inpatient settings, and found great joy in serving these individuals.  She was often sought out in these environments for her unique, flexible, and fluid approach to help individuals facilitate their own healing. Rachel began her own private practice in 2020 and is lucky to be able to  serve a wide variety of individuals and families.

My approach to therapy is to show up as a human first. Together we create a collaborative and supportive relationship to focus on you and your goals, whatever they may be. I work to earn your trust and create a space where you feel safe enough to find, grow, and nurture your resilience. Being able to walk with you on your healing journey is a gift, and I often find I am incredibly moved by the ways my clients continue to show up in the world and in my office.

I know first-hand the devastating effects of developmental and shock trauma. I know how exhausting and overwhelming it can be to continue to try to put one foot in front of the other, day after day, just to continue to feel totally burnt out and hopeless. And I know, that much of my journey would have been impossible alone, without the help of wonderful healers. I feel very deeply in my soul we are not meant to live through traumatic experiences alone - without empathy and connection, and when we are held empathetically and wholly, we begin to find access to our true healing potential.

Somatic Psychotherapy is similar to other traditional talk therapies, however, one of the unique aspects of somatic work is that we attune to our personalities, thoughts, emotions, while also attuning to ourselves at a basic physiological level in our bodies. Trauma healing can be tender, full of big emotions, and occasionally intense. Equally important however, is developing our capacity for ease, laughter, joy, and connection while we move through what feels stuck to find our very human selves underneath.

I want my clients to know and feel that I view them as a whole human who only need help uncovering and remembering the path to find their way home in their body. Healing is possible, and I view each of them as courageous individuals, who amaze me with their willingness, their incredibly profound resilience, and their intrinsic wholeness. Each person deserves relief and healing. They deserve to feel whole.

You deserve to feel at home in your body
